Father of the bride dance

Jane & her dad had not had the chance to have a real dance until last night. Jane & Mark’s wedding was last Sunday at Hotel Du Vin Birmingham. They had a really small wedding with only 30 guests. Its was small, personal & just lovely.

Last night they had their party at Hampton Mannor in Hampton in Arden. With about 150 guests, LOTS of drink, mini fish & chips (really good) & a sick band (Apollo Soul). It was going to be a messy night, I could tell!

I don’t think Jane had planned to do this dance but with the drinks flowing & rowdy guests requesting, it just happened. Here is just one of many photos I took (yeh I shoot a lot, if you have been at a wedding party with me you will know what I mean!).

I love this photo. It’s just fun. Exactly what the evening of your wedding should be. You don’t need to pose this stuff. The photos & there, I just need to go & take them.

Shooting the party is probably my favourite part of the day. Even though my ears are still ringing & I am meeting a client in 45 mins it is still worth it.

Why I love this photo... Pt3

I love this photo of Jane. I probably sound like a broken record when I say this but I love it because it is so natural. Natural is my goal. Candid moments like this are exactly what I am looking for when I am shooting.

I took this photo during the bridal prep stage at Jane & Marks wedding on Valentines Day. The rooms were amazing at Hotel Du Vin in Birmingham with large windows which really makes a difference. As you can see the lighting is just lovely here.

Jane & her friend Katie are business partners & pretty much a pair of nutters when together. I will post another photo of the pair of them soon which sums them up perfectly!

Posed or Candid?

This photo is one of my favourite that I took at Jane & Marks wedding on Valentines Day at Hotel Du Vin in Birmingham City Centre.

I love this photo simply because of the real emotion that was captured. I try to not get too involved with setting up staged photos but I had a clear Idea in my head & I wanted a photo of Jane & Mark walking down the street together.

Some would argue that this is not a candid photo as it was ‘set up’. I disagree. I think the difference between a candid & posed photo is emotion, real vs fake. This photo may be set up but it is not posed, the emotion you see here is real!

As a photographer I want to capture real emotion & this photo shines with it.
